While sitting here listening to my first KONG17 logging – Voice of the Maldives, which was a most wanted catch for me – I just found an interesting e-mail in my inbox. The first verification this week was a rather brief one, but nice indeed, and came from Mike Frith at KYKN Keizer OR. The station was heard a few times during KONG17, such as on October 22 when they were heard with local commercials and a promo for some football programming they would air on Friday evenings.

Relatively quiet in my inbox most recently, if “quiet” is a relevant term to describe the current state in an inbox. :) Now, well, the silence and boredom was broken for a while yesterday evening, when I received an e-mail from Dan Voss, Chief Engineer at KKBJ Bemidji MN. He kindly confirmed my October 15 (October 14 according to CDT) 2007 reception of the station. KKBJ was heard with a fair to good signal several times during KONG17.

Nice e-mail received late yesterday from Dusty Rhodes at WDJO Florence KY. He confirms my October 21 2006 reception of the station (October 20 according to EDT). He writes: “We are running 5,000 watts days, but just 990 watts nights – and have been impacted by WYLL in Chicago going from 5,000 watts to 50,000 watts nights. They are supposed to be directional north from southwest of Chicago, but there is a lobe coming down here which is killing our nighttime signal in the northern parts of our market. Surprising that we bounced into your part of the world.” Surprising? Yes! DX-ing is a hobby full of surprises. That is why the hobby is so exciting.

Second verification today! Nice e-mail from Brandon Shafer just confirmed my October 16, 2007 reception of K-WOR. The station was briefly heard with at jingle in the late morning hours of October 16, during our KONG17 DXpedition. Good morning for NA DX, with a lot of stations new at least for me. :)

First verification today, and fourth QSL since Monday!
I just received a nice e-mail response to my reception report to KACH Radio in Preston, Idaho. The response came from Alan White, General Manager at the station, and he kindly confirmed my October 16, 2007 reception. Then it is time to celebrate again, as this is the first station from Idaho that I get verified. Attached was also the station’s logo. Thank you, Alan!

A long, friendly e-mail met me when I opened my e-mail client this morning. The message came from Erik J Disen, Director of Engineering at KRLD, Dallas TX. He confirmed my October 16, 2007 (October 15, acording to US timezones) reception of the station. Thank you, Erik.
