What a fantastic DXpedition it has been! I had to leave a few days before the DXpedition ended, since I had no more vacation left for this calendar year, but I picked a lot of interesting signals during the week I participated in KONG13 and I have a lot of reception reports to write during the coming weeks and months.
I bought a new Icom R75 which arrived a couple of weeks before I went on this DXpedition. Equipped with two R75 receivers and a couple of minidisc recorders I went northwards on the 12th of October, visited some friends outside Trondheim and went further northwards early the next morning. Bjarne (the host) picked me up on the Berlevåg airport a few hours later, and we went right out to Kongsfjord. After rigging the equipment and realizing that my laptop computer's power supply caused radio noise and that the computer therefore couldn't be used, I was ready to start listening. First station to be logged was the Hawaiian on 940 kHz …
Well, I am not going to write a whole diary from the KONG13, though, just mention that we picked up stations from all continents during the DXpedition. Most exciting loggings were Fiji (on various frequencies) and New Zealand – all on mediumwave. If you want to know more about what we heard, you should visit the KONG website at www.kongsfjord.no – absolutely recommended. Now I am in the process of compiling my part of the log from KONG13, as well as writing reception reports.
